Biarritz is a real paradise for golfing enthusiasts devoting more
of its landscape and energy to golf than any other city in France!
There are 10 quality golf courses within a 20 km radius of Biarritz,
with four courses in Europe's top 100 and a further four courses
in the top 50 in France.
Biarritz golf courses are ideally placed between the ocean and the Pyrénées, with the temperate climate allowing golfers to enjoy the pleasures of the game all year round and enabling Biarritz to host 30 golf contests every year! All of the courses are situated together, tightly packed along the coast with a few in the nearby national park.

Golf in and around Biarritz
Biarritz le Phare is a par 69 of 5,402m, spreading over 34 hectares yet located right in the town centre! Established in 1888, the Golf du Phare is one of the oldest clubs in Europe. It is near the ocean and benefits from a delightful climate all year round: mild in winter and ocean breezes in the summer. The course can appear easy as it is not very demanding physically, but it is highly technical.
International Training Centre at the Golf d'Ilbarritz is a 9-hole par 32 of 2,176m and is located on an exceptional site. It was designed by architect Pierre Thévenin for training purposes and is a highly technical course with the grounds on two different levels connected by a free shuttle service. This is the breathtaking location for the BLS French + Golf programme
Golf de Chiberta is a par 71 of 5,650m located in Anglet, 3 km from Biarritz and Bayonne. Opened in the 1920’s when the Duke of Windsor called upon esteemed designer Tom Simpson to create a fitting course, it is a quality coastal course offering a well-established combination of wooded parkland and seashore.
Golf de Chantaco is a par 70 of 6,379m located south of Biarritz in Saint Jean de Luz. Designed by Harry Colt in 1928, this hilly, tight course is laid out in woods overlooked by the imposing foothills of the Pyrénées. It is always named as one of France's top 50 courses.
Golf de la Nivelle is a par 70 of 5,619m located 2km south of Saint Jean de Luz on the banks of the River Nivelle. Founded in 1907, this classic parkland course features mature trees and ocean views.
Golf d’Arcangues is a par 72 of 6,142m and was created in the 1990s by the d'Arcangues family. Close to Biarritz, this beautiful landscaped course winds around the village of Arcangues and its château, amongst oak trees and meadows and provides amazing views of the Pyrénées.
Golf de Bassussarry is a par 72 of 6,176m located on the outskirts of Bayonne and within easy distance of Biarritz. This excellent golf course was created by American architect Rocky Roquemore who blended the course into the beautiful surroundings of rolling hills and 100 year old oaks
