ENROLMENT

  • Your completed registration form and level test, together with a deposit of 450€ should be received at least 3 weeks before your course starts. A confirmation of enrolment will be sent by return post, fax or email.
  • For students over 16 and under 18 years old, please complete the obligatory parental consent form indicating the personal details of who to contact in the event of an accident or serious problem, evening curfew times and medical authorization for all types of surgery.

ENROLMENT FEES, COURSE OR ACCOMMODATION MODIFICATION FEES

  • The flat-rate enrolment fee is 75€ and is non-refundable in the event of cancellation.
  • A student who modifies their course, accommodation or dates less than 2 weeks prior to arrival at BLS, or during their stay, will be liable to a supplementary 75€ administration fee.

VISA

  • Students resident outside of the European Community planning on staying for more than three months must apply for a ‘long stay’ visa from their local French Consular Service in their country of residence.
  • Upon receipt of the enrolment form and the required deposit, BLS will issue a letter of acceptance together with proof of accommodation as required to obtain a visa. (In some cases full payment of course and accommodation may be required).
  • In the event of an unsuccessful visa application, supported by written proof from the French Embassy, BLS will refund the total amount paid less the 75€ administration fee.

PAYMENT

  • Balance of payment must be made on the first day of the course.
  • If you enroll less than 3 weeks before the starting date, then full payment is required with the enrolment form.
  • Payments are to be made in Euros by:
    • Credit card: VISA, MasterCard (payment can be made by telephone) + 1% processing fee
    • Cheque, traveller’s cheque, Eurocheque

INSURANCE

  • Before starting with BLS each student must take appropriate insurance to cover: personal liability, medical, emergency and repatriation expenses, course and accommodation fees in the event of inability to pursue due to serious problems, theft and loss of personal belongings.
  • BLS cannot accept any liability regarding the loss or theft of students’ personal belongings.

CANCELLATION

  • Cancellation fees:
    • More than 4 weeks prior to arrival: 75€
    • Between 2-4 weeks prior to arrival: 225€
    • Less than 2 weeks prior to arrival: the deposit of 450€
  • BLS reserves the right to cancel a course which does not attain a sufficient number of participants. If a compromise cannot be reached BLS agrees to reimburse the full amount of fees paid to BLS by the student.
  • Without prior approval from BLS, participants who attend a course but do not finish it will not be entitled to a refund of course fees or accommodation.
  • If a stay is foreshortened in accommodation booked at the Résidence BLS, a hotel, or with a host family, BLS will withhold an amount equal to one week's accommodation.

LIABILITY FOR MINORS

  • BLS cannot accept any liability for any accident that occurs off the school’s premises.
  • BLS is not liable for all the actions or deeds of students under the age of 18 (minors), it is only liable for actions or deeds that occur during the period of time when the school has a duty of care to the student, in accordance with the provisions of article 1384 al 1 of the French Civil Code.
  • If the student fails to attend lessons or extracurricular activities, BLS cannot accept any liability for the behaviour of the student during this time.
  • Off school premises and in the context of the extracurricular activities suggested by BLS, the parent of the student remains fully responsible for the student.
  • The host family cannot be held responsible for the minor student for the period of time when the student is in the care of the host family.
  • Both during extracurricular activities authorised by the student’s parents, and during the time spent with the host family, the parent of the student remains fully responsible for the student. The role of the host family is not to educate or supervise the minor, but only to provide board and lodging and to ensure that the time spent with the family is agreeable.
  • No delegation of parental authority is transferred to the host family and the temporary separation of the minor from the family home does not impair the cohabitation relationship as it is understood in a French legal sense.
  • The parents are wholly responsible for their child at all times other than when BLS has a duty of care to the child, in accordance with the provisions of article 1384 al 4 of the French Civil Code.

BLS SCHOOL RULES

  • General points - When you enrol at BLS you agree to abide by the school rules. Consequently, in response to persistence absence from classes or for bad behaviour, and after receiving a warning, BLS reserves the right to send home offending students after first informing their parents.
  • Lesson timetables - To allow lessons to start on time and proceed smoothly, students must respect the timetables displayed within the school. Any student who arrives more than 15 minutes late must wait until the break before joining the class, and then only with the teacher’s permission.
  • Classes missed due to failure to attend will not be rescheduled.
  • If classes are missed repeatedly, or if a study programme has to be terminated early, a reimbursement or compensation can only be considered if evidence is produced (e.g. a copy of a doctor’s note).
  • Responsibility - BLS is not liable for all the actions or deeds of students under the age of 18 (minors), it is only liable for actions or deeds that occur during the period of time when the student is under the supervision of the school, which is tasked with organising, overseeing and controlling the activities of the minor.
  • If the student fails to attend lessons or extracurricular activities, BLS cannot accept any liability for the behaviour of the student during this time.
  • Off school premises and in the context of the sporting and cultural activities suggested by BLS, the parent of the student under the age of 18 remains fully responsible for the student.
